Cash Express shows gratitude to first responders

Every year Americans take Sept. 11 as a chance to remember the fallen and honor heroes from across the world. Cash Express is no different, as each store sets aside the day to honor local heroes.

Cash Express of Russellville delivered cakes to Russellville Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Russellville Fire Department, Keller Ambulance and Air Evac in Tuscumbia.

“I think more than anything it really is bringing some joy to their day,” said Russellville Cash Express manager Joan Thompson. “We want to take at least one day to let them know they’re special.”

Along with the cake, Thompson said Cash Express also has all of its customers sign a big card to present to each group.

“I know throughout the year, people forget to appreciate them, and sometimes people complain about the police or this and that, so I think it is just good to have time to show them that they are appreciated,” Thompson said.

Thompson said her favorite part about delivering the cakes is getting to meet the different local first responders and share her appreciation.

She said all Cash Express stores participate in honoring local first responders with a cake for 9/11.
