Belgreen, Tharptown runners qualify for state

Four cross-country runners from Belgreen and Tharptown have qualified for the state meet Saturday at Jesse Owens Park in Oakville.

In the varsity boys race, Tharptown’s Winston Nolen finished seventh overall in Class 1A/2A with a time of 18:10. He was followed by Belgreen’s Canaan Stough, who finished in 12th place with a time of 18:36.

In the varsity girls race, Belgreen’s Kimberly Luna finished in 15th place overall in Class 1A/2A with a time of 23:42. She was followed by Tharptown’s Madison Vandiver, who finished in 24th place with a time of 24:57.

The Class 1A/2A varsity girls race will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. The varsity boys race will follow at 9:30 a.m.
