Vina salutes veterans

Vina High School celebrates Veterans Day with a program to honor all those who have served their country. Students sang songs including “Fifty Nifty,” “God Bless America,” “God Bless the U.S.A” and “The Star-Spangled Banner.” They also presented flags and led the assembly in The Pledge of Allegiance. Sgt. Bradley Townsend, a Vina High School graduate who is serving in in the U.S. Army, spoke to students, teachers and the community about the hardships of war and his reliance on God to help him through. Tenth-grader Draven Vandiver played taps on the trumpet, and he and VHS band director Jimmy Johnson played a duet of “America the Beautiful” on trumpet.
