BHS boys dominate Phillips

The Belgreen Bulldogs dominated the Phillips Bears 75-37 to remain unbeaten in area play.

Belgreen jumped out to a 21-4 first quarter lead and kept rolling, leading 45-13 at the half.

Will Bonner led the Bulldogs with 16 points, followed by Scout Bragwell with 14 points and Collin Bonner with 10 points.

Others scoring for Belgreen were Brodie Vandiver with eight points, Isac Willingham with seven points, Bryant Hubbert with four points, David Plott with three points, Jackson Galliano and Hadden Taylor with two points each.

GIRLS

Phillips 57, Belgreen 45

Ansley Tate and Emma Dempsey scored 14 points each but couldn’t help Belgreen get a much-needed area win. The Bulldogs lost to the Bears 57-45.

Katie Dempsey added eight points, Emma Dempsey seven points and Kaley Chandler had two points.

Holiday action

In holiday tournament play the Lady Bulldogs snatched wins over Carbon Hill, 59-34, and Hamilton, 69-38.

Emma Dempsey scored 27 points to help Belgreen rout the Carbon Hill Bulldogs. Dempsey scored 14 points in the third quarter alone.

Belgreen led 14-5 at the end of the first quarter and 28-14 at halftime. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 54-20 by the end of the third quarter.

Ansley Tate added 14 points for Belgreen.

As for Hamilton, after a sluggish start, the Belgreen Bulldogs clamped down on the Hamilton Aggies to run away with the win.

With the game tied 12-12 at the end of the first quarter, Belgreen outscored Hamilton 20-11 to take a 32-23 halftime lead. Belgreen extended the lead to 52-30 by the end of the third quarter.

Emma Dempsey led the Bulldogs with 22 points. Autumn Bragwell added 15 points, and Gracie Dempsey had 11 points.
