RHS girls top Rogers in softball action March 4

Russellville 10, Rogers 3

Russellville faced Rogers March 4 and got a combination of good hitting and pitching to take down the Pirates.

Autumn Logan had three RBIs and two hits, including a home run to lead the RHS offense. Madison Murray added a double as one of her two hits, and she also drove home two runs.

Tori Tiffin, Alivia Clemmons and Fallin Cox added RBIs for RHS, while Tiffin, Cox, Alivia Clemmons, Chalea Clemmons and Makala O’Neal had the other hits.

Tiffin pitched a complete game to get the win. She threw 84 pitches and allowed five hits and no walks.  She struck out three batters and allowed three earned runs.

Caledonia, Miss., 6, Russellville 4

Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Mississippi, was the scene for a couple of games for the Lady Golden Tigers March 9.

The first contest of the day saw Russellville fall to Caledonia, with RHS getting outhit 9-7.

Madison Murray went two-for-two with a couple of walks from the lead-off spot to lead the offensive attack. Jenna Whitfield had a hit and two RBIs, while AJ Taylor added a double.

Logan had a hit and an RBI, while Chalea Clemmons and O’Neal also hit safely.

Kailee Simpson got the start in the pitching circle, and she pitched 5.1 innings, allowing three earned runs. She struck out four and walked a batter while throwing 104 pitches.

South Pontotoc, Miss., 5, Russellville 0

Russellville (4-9) struggled to get things going on offense, and the Lady Golden Tigers lost their second game of the day at Itawamba.

RHS got two hits and a couple of walks off of South Pontotoc pitching in the five-inning contest. The hits were by Jenna Whitfield and Alivia Clemmons, while Tiffin and Taylor drew the bases on balls.

Krista Sikes did the pitching for Russellville, and she allowed three earned runs on five hits. The senior threw 100 pitches, and she struck out five batters.
