Jack Daniels donates hand sanitizer to county

Jack Daniel’s Distillery is momentarily stepping away from the alcoholic beverages it is known for to take part in helping with the COVID-19 virus by donating to emergency management agencies – including the EMA in Franklin County.

The distillery, located in Lynchburg, Tennessee, donated hand sanitizer to Franklin County EMA to help with the pandemic. The hand sanitizer will go to local hospitals and first responders.

“As you all know, finding hand sanitizer at this time is very difficult,” said Franklin County EMA Director Mary Hallman-Glass. “So we are very appreciative to them and thankful for their help.”

Hallman-Glass said she reached out to the company to help after she heard of them making donations to other EMA directors. She said the hand sanitizer will be helpful to local hospitals and first responders to ensure they have an adequate supply.

Franklin County received the donations two weeks ago – a total of 15 cases of hand sanitizer and 15 gallons of cleaning supplies. “We had a need, and they helped us fulfill that need,” Hallman-Glass said.

To officially thank the company for its donation, the Franklin County Commission passed a resolution at its most recent meeting to send to the distillery.

“Especially during this time, everyone is having to come together to help,” said Franklin County Probate Judge and Commission Chairman Barry Moore. “It is great to see big companies like this doing their part and helping out. We are very appreciative to them.”
