William C. “Bill” Grissom

William C. “Bill” Grissom passed away June 9.

Bill, affectionately called “Papaw” by family and friends, was born in Russellville July 30, 1929. He was a member of the Russellville Masonic Lodge #371. After proudly serving his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force, he moved to Birmingham and was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Bill retired in 1989 after more than 30 years of dedicated service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Grissom; his parents, George and Pearl Grissom; and two brothers, Joe and Hoyt Grissom. Survivors include his children, Bill Grissom (Terry), David Grissom and Karen Love (David); grandchildren Jessica Fortenberry (Scott), Matthew Grissom (Kayde) and Alex Love; great-grandchildren Kaylee, Landon and Addie Fortenberry and Graycee Kate and Luke Baker Grissom; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be June 13 from 1-3 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Trussville. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
