Credit union names CEO

The Valley Credit Union Board of Directors has announced the appointment of a new chief executive officer: Dawn Truitt.

“I truly love Valley Credit Union and am humbled to accept this position on behalf of our members throughout north Alabama,” said Truitt, who since 2016 has been VCU’s assistant manager. “Nothing is more important than our members, and the VCU team is ready to serve you.”

Truitt earned a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of North Alabama and graduated from the University of Georgia Southeast CUNA Management School.  She began her career in the credit union industry in the 1990s, first working for VCU as a loan officer in Tuscumbia. After owning and managing her own office supplies company, she rejoined VCU in 2016.

“Dawn has played an integral leadership role at VCU for several years,” said Dr. Richard Gardner, board chairman. “She has a heart for the credit union and a passion for serving our members.”

VCU is a full-service credit union that has served its members since 1956 throughout six north Alabama counties with six branches. In Franklin County, a branch is located in Russellville, 111 Lauderdale St. NE.
