PC Alumni Association awards two scholarships to 2020 grads

The Phil Campbell Alumni Association awarded two $1,000 scholarships Sunday to two recent graduates.

Lexi Crittenden and Samuel Carreto, both members of the Class of 2020 – whose senior year was cut short because of COVID-19, were awarded the scholarships on Sunday by association president Lynn Landers.

“I’m proud that the Alumni Association was able to give these two scholarships,” said Landers.  “Our scholarships are solely funded by donations from alumni, faculty and support personnel.”

The scholarships are usually awarded at the annual Phil Campbell Alumni Association luncheon the first week in August. The luncheon was cancelled this year because of virus restrictions.

The scholarship is awarded based on a point system. Student gets points based on income, siblings in school, grade point average, extracurricular activities and community service.

Landers said donations have been down this year because of limited fundraising opportunities. Anyone who wishes to donate to the scholarship fund can do so through any CB&S Bank or by contacting Landers directly.
