Vina softball holds youth camp

The Vina softball program held a softball/baseball youth camp last week to help build skills on the diamond and build interest in the Red Devil programs.

“This year’s camp has been the best camp yet,” said Vina softball coach Jonathan Jones. “We started this camp in 2017. The camp objective is to improve throwing, fielding, base-running and hitting mechanics.”

Jones described the camp as “an awesome tool for me as the coach to evaluate my upandcoming talent.”

“I love seeing my high school players build relationships with our youth,” Jones said. “The camp also helps my players reinforce their learning by teaching skills they have picked up over the years by being in our program.”

Jones thanked all the parents and students who participated in camp this year as well as his Lady Red Devil softball players who helped work the camp.

Campers included Nathan Rogers, Chasity Nix, Kendon Rhodes, Christopher Sparks, Cole Millem, Ethan Fletcher, Tessa Fowler, Aiden Johnson, Victor Tucker, Colbie Agee, Benjamin Guin, Christian Fletcher, Chaston Poores, Kayson Johnson, Miley Pannell, Lindy Easterling, Alex Raper, Makenzie Elrod, Mary Ella Garcia, Brayden Carter and Kerri Harper.
