Coronavirus cancels Phil Campbell Christmas Parade

The positive numbers of COVID-19 cases are taking their toll on holiday cheer, as the Town of Phil Campbell announced Tuesday it is canceling its Christmas parade.
The parade, which was originally scheduled for Dec. 10 at 6 p.m., has been canceled because of the increase in positive cases.
“There are just a lot of people who are getting sick right now,” said Phil Campbell city magistrate Jenny Burks.
Burks said city officials agreed it was the best decision to cancel the parade after seeing the growing number of positive cases in Phil Campbell and all across Franklin County.
“We had hoped the numbers would be going down,” Burks said. “At this point, we thought it would be best to be cautious.”
Phil Campbell is the third municipality in Franklin County to decide to cancel its Christmas Parade because of positive cases, following Russellville and Vina.
The only Christmas Parade in Franklin County still scheduled to take place is in Red Bay, which is scheduled for Monday at 6 p.m. in downtown Red Bay.
