Two more Russellville Golden Tigers will be continuing their athletic careers into college, as Will Calhoun and Dakota Andres both signed Tuesday afternoon to play football at Huntington College.

Calhoun and Andres both fill the position of offensive lineman, where they have shined for the Golden Tigers.

“We are just really proud of both of them and what they have done for our program,” said head football coach John Ritter.

Andres said it has been a dream of his to play collegiate football since he was a child.

“As a kid growing up, just dreaming of playing at that next level and making everyone that you know proud – it’s a surreal feeling,” Andres said.

Calhoun echoed Andres, saying it was an exciting day for him and his family.

“I feel like all of my hard work has finally paid off,” Calhoun said. “It’s a big day.”

Calhoun said he is looking forward to continuing to be on the same team as Andres because the two will be able to support each other.

“It’s great to see him having the same success I’m having,” Calhoun said. “We’ve played with each other since we were 7 or 8 years old, so it is really special to see both of our hard work playing off at the same level.”

Andres said he knew when he visited Huntington College that it was the right fit for him because of the warm atmosphere. “I loved the coaches there, and I just really felt at home,” Andres said.

Calhoun said the strong academics and successful football program was also a selling point. “I loved the people there and really felt at home,” Calhoun said. “I felt like it was the best place for me.”

As far as goals, Andres said his goal is to work hard to receive a starting position and then hopefully be named to the All-Division Team.

Calhoun said his goal is to win and grow while at Huntington and to be a player who helps the team continue a winning tradition.

“Huntington is known for winning,” Calhoun said. “I want to go and compete to be the best player I can be for them. I feel like I have a high ceiling, and I can do anything I put my mind to.”

Calhoun said he is excited to continue his academics at Huntington and plans to major in criminal justice. Andres plans to major in secondary education, with a dream of eventually becoming a history teacher and coach.
