RHS softball season continues on road with mix of wins, losses

The Russellville Lady Golden Tigers went to Haleyville March 4 and got a varsity softball win in eight innings over the Lady Lions by a 6-5 score.

Emma Campbell hit a home run and had two RBIs for RHS. Jacey Moore, Emma Hubbert, Jenna Whitfield and Natalie Nichols all had doubles.

Moore had two hits in the game and scored two runs. Hubbert also had two hits and scored a run. Whitfield picked up three RBIs, and Fallin Cox added a single to the hit column.

Moore got the start in the pitching circle, and she went three innings. Paislee James and Kailee Simpson followed in scoreless relief.

LAMP 5, Russellville 0

March 5 play began in a tournament held in Wetumpka. First up for RHS was a contest versus the Loveless Academic Magnet Program team from Montgomery.

The Lady Golden Tigers struggled at the plate and on defense, striking out 14 times and committing four errors in the six-inning game.

Nichols had the only RHS hit, and Jenna Whitfield reached base on a walk.

Moore got the start and went four innings. She allowed four unearned runs and struck out seven.

James pitched one and two-thirds innings and gave up a run on four hits, and she walked two batters.

Russellville 4, Foley 1

A win over Foley wrapped up the action Friday night for RHS. Moore had a double, a run scored and an RBI. Cox, Nichols and Jaiden Calvert also drove in runs.

Maddy Green, Cox, Campbell, Nichols and Simpson all had hits.

Simpson was successful in the circle, and she pitched a complete game. The senior struck out seven and walked none. She pitched six innings and allowed four hits.

Alabama Christian Academy 4, Russellville 2

Bracket play got underway Saturday at the Wetumpka tournament, and RHS fell in the first game to ACA.

Green homered and singled, while Calvert added a double, single and an RBI. Whitfield and Hubbert also hit safely for Russellville.

Simpson and James did the pitching in the six- inning contest. James worked one frame and allowed no hits, runs or walks.

Rogers 7, Russellville 0

RHS (3-6) traveled to Rogers High Monday and fell to the Lady Pirates.

Calvert had two hits, including a double. Moore and Green also had hits for Russellville.

RHS struck out 12 times for the second game in a row.

Simpson threw 90 pitches over four and one-third innings of work. She struck out nine and allowed three unearned runs. James followed in relief, allowing four runs on four hits.
