Belgreen softball gets pair of wins

The Belgreen Lady Bulldogs got a pair of softball wins this past week, beating Colbert County 9-2 and Hackleburg 11-1.

In the Colbert County game, the Indians led the Bulldogs 1-0 through the second inning. Belgreen tied the game in the top of the third inning on a double by Lily Blackburn.

The Bulldogs broke the game open in the fifth inning on two-run singles by Kaley Wilson and Emma Dempsey.

Wilson had three hits and three RBIs in the game. Blackburn had three hits and two RBIs.

Dempsey had two hits and two RBIs and also got the win in the circle.

Belgreen dominated the Hackleburg Panthers, winning 11-1. The Bulldogs led the Panthers led 2-0 after the second inning and 2-1 after the third inning, and they broke the game open in the fourth with six runs to take an 8-1 lead.

Madison Vandiver had two hits and two RBIs. Blackburn and Emma Dempsey had two hits and two runs each.  Noelle Willingham scored three runs.

BOYS

Belgreen baseball picked up a win over Sheffield 14-6.

Belgreen led Sheffield 3-2 after two innings. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 8-2 at the end of four innings.  At the end of the sixth inning, Belgreen led 13-6.

Jackson Galliano led the Bulldogs with two hits, including a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Will King and Cole King scored three runs each.

Carson Cox got the win for Belgreen.
