Phil Campbell boys sweep Mars Hill
The Phil Campbell Bobcats pulled off a sweep of their old nemesis, the Mars Hill Panthers, this past week.
Phil Campbell beat Mars Hill 12-4 and 13-0.
The Bobcats capped off the week with a 15-0 shutout of the Lamar County Bulldogs.
In game one versus the Panthers, the game was scoreless after three innings and tied 3-3 after five innings. A two-out, two-run single by Luke Barnwell in the top of the sixth inning, scoring Ridge Raper and Levi Crittenden, gave the Bobcats a lead they wouldn’t let go of.
Phil Campbell scored seven more runs in the top of the seventh inning to put the game away.
Mason Swinney had three hits, including a triple, two RBIs and two runs. Barnwell had three hits and two RBIs. Austen Baker had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Raper had two hits, including a double. Bryant Anthony had two doubles.
Barnwell also got the win on the mound.
Phil Campbell left no doubt in game two, as Swinney pitched a one-hit shutout and struck out six to lead the Bobcats to the 13-0 win.
Phil Campbell scored two runs in the first inning, five in the second and six in the fourth.
Barnwell had three RBIs from the leadoff spot in the lineup. John Miller Lawson had two hits, two RBIs and three runs.
Raper capped off the week getting his 20th career win in a 15-0 win over the Lamar County Bulldogs.
Raper didn’t allow a run or a hit and struck out seven through three innings of work.
Phil Campbell pounded out 10 hits, including a solo home run by Swinney in the second inning.
