Tigers knock off BHS in softball

The Red Bay Tigers beat the Belgreen Bulldogs 6-5 on a walk-off single this past week.

Belgreen got on the board first in the top of the first inning when Sarah Eaton scored on a fielder’s choice. Red Bay tied the game in the bottom half of the inning.

The Bulldogs extended their lead to 4-1 in the top of the second inning on a two-run single by Emma Dempsey and a run by Annaliese Rogers.

Red Bay got a run back in the bottom of the third inning on a double by Lila Blackburn scoring Rogers.

The Tigers tied the game in the bottom of the fourth inning on scores by Audry Ehler and Jazmyn Pearson.

The Bulldogs reclaimed the lead in the top of the seventh inning when Dempsey scored on a fielder’s choice.

Red Bay got the win in the bottom of the seventh on a walkoff single by Chloe Knoblock scoring Hannah Butler and Emma McCollister.

Dempsey had four hits, including a triple and two RBIs, and she scored two runs for Belgreen.

Blackburn and Knoblock had two RBIs each for Red Bay.

Red Bay also beat Belmont, Miss., 2-0 last week.

Pearson and Ehler scored the Tiger runs in the second inning.
