Red Bay tops Belgreen in softball

The long ball powered the Red Bay Tigers past the Belgreen Bulldogs in an intra-county matchup this past week 7-2.

Emma McCollister and Lila Blackburn both hit home runs to lift the Tigers past the Bulldogs.

Belgreen got on the board first in the top of the first inning when Emma Dempsey and Noelle Willingham both scored on sacrifice flies to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead.

Red Bay responded in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at 2-2 when Chloe Knoblock scored on a fielder’s choice and Blackburn scored on a single by Georgia Inman.

Red Bay took a 4-2 lead on a two-run homer by McCollister.

The Tigers picked up insurance runs in the bottom of the second inning on a three-run home run by Blackburn scoring Hannah Butler and Annaliese Rogers.

Knoblock got the win in the circle for the Tigers.

The Tiger girls also picked up a win versus Colbert County 5-3. Lila Blackburn struck out 14 batters to help the Red Bay Tigers to victory.

Red Bay led Colbert County 3-0 after four innings, scoring three runs in the third and holding the Indians scoreless. Red Bay had extended that lead to 5-1 at the end of the fifth inning.

The Tigers got their first runs in the bottom of the third inning on a two-run double by Blackburn scoring Rogers and Knoblock. The Tigers added another run when Blackburn scored on a passed ball and error.

Red Bay scored two more in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two-run single by Sarah Eaton scoring Rogers and Blackburn.

Belgreen beats Red Bay in baseball

The Belgreen Bulldogs doubled their way to a 13-6 win over the Red Bay Tigers.

Four of Belgreen’s eight hits came on doubles by Jackson Galliano, Alex Guidry, Canaan Stough and Brodie Vandiver.

Red Bay got on the board first on an RBI single by Eli Farris scoring Landon Glover, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

Belgreen took the lead in the top of the third on a two-run single by Carson Cox scoring Peyton Turbyfill and Will King. The Bulldogs got two more runs later in the inning by Landon Cox and Carson Cox to push the Bulldogs’ lead to 4-1.

Belgreen added another run in the top of the fourth when Galliano scored on a walk to give the Bulldogs a 5-1 lead.

Red Bay tied the game in the bottom of the fifth when Bulldog pitching got a little wild, scoring four runs on walks. The Tigers took a 6-5 lead on a passed ball scoring Jeremiah Thorne.

Belgreen, however, blew the game open in the top of the fifth inning. The Bulldogs tied the game at 6-6 by Galliana scoring Guidry. The Bulldogs took an 8-6 lead on a two-run double by Vandiver scoring Stough and Galliana.

The Bulldogs added four more insurance runs in the inning and added another in the top of the seventh inning.

Guidry had two hits and three RBIs for Belgreen. Vandiver had two hits and two RBIs. Carson Cox had a hit and three RBIs.
