RHS alum helps Calhoun golf to third-place finish

Calhoun Community College Lady Warhawks golfers – among them, Russellville High alum Morgan Moon – played in the Northeast Alabama Community College’s tournament March 22-23 at Goose Pond Colony Golf Course in Scottsboro – and came away with a third-place finish.

Calhoun finished in third place as a team out of five teams.

According to Coach Arin Eddy, the second day of play got cut short because of weather, so the girls played 18 holes on the first day and nine holes on the second day.

Calhoun finished with a score of 532 behind Jefferson State’s 527 and Wallace State’s 509. Coming in fourth was Snead State with 541 and Northeast Alabama with 619.

In individual results, Moon came in seventh out of 23 players. She hit 91 day one and 41 day two for a 132 overall score.

The women’s golf team next played in Wallace State Community College’s tournament April 5-6 at Cross Creek Golf Course in Cullman, and Calhoun again finished in third place as a team out of five teams with a score of 701 – behind Jefferson State with 696 and Wallace State with 650.

Calhoun narrowly edged past Snead State, which scored 703.

In individual results, Moon finished in a tie for fifth with a day one score of 84 and a day two score of 83 for a 167 total.
