Belgreen High welcomes new principal
Many new faces will likely roam the halls of Belgreen High School in August when students return, and one of those will be a new face in the principal’s chair.
While Megean Berryman will be a new face to BHS as principal, she is no new face to Franklin County, having spent the past two years serving as principal of East Franklin Junior High School.
“The Franklin County Schools system has been so good to me in my time here, so I am happy to be continuing in it,” Berryman said.
Berryman will be replacing Derek Ergle as principal at BHS, as Ergle is moving to Russellville High School as assistant principal. Ergle will be replacing Natalie Bendall, who will be moving up to a position at Russellville’s central office.
Berryman was officially hired for the position June 15, and she began at BHS June 21.
Berryman is used to working with the kindergarten through ninth grades, but working with Pre-K and sophomores through seniors will be a change.
“It’s really going to be a different dynamic,” Berryman said. “I’m going to have additional grades, but there is also probably double the students and double the teachers here.”
Berryman said since EFJH was her first administrative position, she learned so much, which she hopes will be useful in her time at BHS.
“I really learned how important it is to have all of your teachers working together and really functioning as a team,” Berryman said. “That is something that makes a big difference.”
Berryman said EFJH will always have a special place in her heart, but she is looking forward to all of the new that will come at BHS.
“I am looking forward to getting to experience varsity sports and be involved in that environment,” Berryman said. “That is something I am really looking forward to.”
Berryman said although she is still adjusting to BHS, she is thankful for all of the people she has already met and is looking forward to meeting tons of new people.
“I am really excited for all of the students I am going to get to meet,” Berryman said. “I am really looking forward to this school year. I think it is going to be great.”
