The Red Bay Tigers and Phil Campbell Bobcats both took tough losses Friday night. Red Bay lost to Hatton 16-14, and Phil Campbell lost to Lauderdale County 13-6.

Red Bay took an early lead against Hatton in the first quarter on a 1-yard run by Aiden Quinn. Hatton responded in the second quarter to take an 8-6 lead.

Hatton extended that lead to 16-8 in the third quarter on a 26-yard run.

Quinn scored his second touchdown of the night on a 3-yard run to cut the Hornets’ lead to 16-14, but both teams were kept out of the endzone for the rest of the game, giving Hatton the win.

Quinn carried the ball 22 times for 99 yards and two touchdowns. Gage Edgemon completed nine of 18 passes for 112 yards. Owen Terry caught two passes for 59 yards, and Elijah Luster caught two passes for 32 yards.

Phil Campbell’s run game was stymied by the Lauderdale County defense in handing the Bobcats their first region loss of the year.

The Bobcats tallied 18 yards on the ground against the Tiger defense on 19 carries. Lauderdale County also held Phil Campbell on third downs, allowing the Bobcat to convert two of eight third downs.

Lauderdale County took a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter on a five-yard run. The Tigers scored again midway through the fourth quarter to take a 13-0 lead.

The Bobcats got on the board with 2:36 to go in the game on an 85-yard bomb from Kyle Pace to Andrew Green.

Vina lost to Cherokee 13-6, and Tharptown lost to Sheffield 47-0.
