Red Bay boys top Mars Hill, Carbon Hill

The Red Bay Tigers picked up a couple of holiday wins over the Mars Hill Panthers, 63-60, and the Carbon Hill Bulldogs, 54-45.

Red Bay outscored Mars Hill 17-13 in each of the first two quarters to build a 34-26 halftime lead. Landon Glover led the way for the Tigers in the first half, scoring 10 points. Lawson Glover scored eight firsthalf points for Red Bay.

The Panthers made a comeback in the third quarter, outscoring Red Bay 20-14 and cutting the Tigers’ lead to two points, 48-46, at the end of the third quarter.

Paden Allison helped keep the Tigers in the game in the second half, making a basket and going six for six from the freethrow line. Lawson Glover scored five of Red Bay’s 14 thirdquarter points.

Allison and Lawson Glover led Red Bay with 15 points each. Landon Glover added 12 points. Elijah Luster and Bryson Hacker scored eight points each. Carson Corum added four points, Cody Carnes three points, Andrew Ray two points and Owen Terry two points.

In the Carbon Hill game, Red Bay jumped out on the Bulldogs early. B.P. Blair scored seven firstquarter points to help Red Bay take an early 13-5 lead, and the Tigers extended their lead to 28-14 at halftime.

Carbon Hill outpaced Red Bay 19-11 in the third quarter to cut the Tigers’ lead to 39-33, but Red Bay hung on in the fourth for the win.

Blair led Red Bay with 15 points. He was followed by Corum with 13 points, including three three-point baskets. Landon Glover added 12 points. Andrew Ray scored all six of his points in the fourth quarter. Lawson Glover added five points, and Allison chipped in three points.
