In recent basketball action, the Red Bay Tiger teams split with Phil Campbell, with the boys knocking off the Bobcats in a close one, 43-40, and the girls falling to the Lady Bobcats in overtime.

GIRLS

Kenner Scott and Jade Roberson combined for nine overtime points to help the Phil Campbell Bobcats knock off the Red Bay Tigers 58-50.

Scott and Faith Cook hit four three-pointers each, with Roberson adding two more to give the Bobcats  a combined 10 made shots from behind the arch.

Phil Campbell raced out to a 16-8 first quarter lead led by Cook, who hit three of her four three-points in the opening period of play.

Red Bay battled back, outscoring the Bobcats in each of the next three quarters of play.

Red Bay cut Phil Campbell’s lead to 27-21 at halftime and 34-31 by the end of the third quarter. The Tigers outscored Phil Campbell 13-10 in the fourth quarter to push the game into overtime.

Phil Campbell dominated the overtime period, with Roberson and Scott nailing three pointers. The Bobcats went six for seven from the free-throw line, as well. Phil Campbell outscored Red Bay 14-6 in overtime to secure the win.

Scott led Phil Campbell with 17 points, followed by Cook with 14 points. Madison Branch and Roberson added 12 points and 10 points each. Ali Herring and Hannah Welborn scored two points each.

Emma McCollister led Red Bay with 16 points, followed by Kaylie Lindley with 15 points and Madeline Ledbetter with 12 points. Jaycee Vinson scored four points, and Shelby Nichols chipped in three points.

BOYS

The Red Bay Tigers squeaked out a tight one, beating the Phil Campbell Bobcats 43-40.

Red Bay led Phil Campbell 10-6 at the end of the first period, but the Bobcats cut the Tiger lead to 18-16 at the half.

Phil Campbell tied the game by the end of the third quarter, 26-26.

Going into the fourth quarter, Phil Campell’s leading scorer, Bryant Hyde, had been held to three points. In the fourth quarter, Hyde scored five points, helping lead Phil Campbell to the win.

Canaan Clay led the Bobcats with 11 points, going six for eight from the free-throw line. Hyde ended the game with eight points, along with Cam Habada. Quentin Hyde added six points, Sage Raper three points, Kyle Pace three points and Cole Pace one point.

Lawson Glover and Carson Corum scored 11 points and 10 points, respectively. Landon Glover added eight points, B.P. Blair seven points, Bryson Hacker three points, Andrew Ray two points and Paden Allison two points.
