Vina girls basketball takes down Phillips
The Vina Red Devils blew past the Phillips Bears in the second half en route to an 80-62 area win this past week.
Vina jumped out to a 19-10 first-quarter lead. Phillips scored a whopping 32 points in the second quarter to take a 42-38 lead over the Red Devils at halftime.
Vina was able to shut down the Bears’ scoring onslaught in the second half, outscoring Phillips 20-9 in the third quarter and 22-11 in the fourth to claim the win.
Sara Harper led Vina with 19 points and 10 assists. Sara Scott added 18 points and 20 rebounds. Kaitlyn Athey hit five three-pointers and scored 17 points. Kaley Attaway added 10 points. K.K. Mitchell finished the game with six points, Keyara Umphress got three points, and Abbie Petree had two points.
