A house on County Road 75 in Russellville is left damaged after a man driving a tandem axel dump truck left the roadway, went airborne and crashed into it, surprising a man in the bedroom and forcing him into the living room.

Dump truck crashes into Russellville house

A man driving a tandem axle dump truck left County Road 75 in Russellville, went airborne and crashed into a house, according to responding authorities.

According to authorities, the crash pushed a male occupant in the bedroom from his bed into the living room. A female occupant was also in the house at the time

“Both occupants were hurt,” explained Mary Glass, Franklin County EMA director and Blue Springs fire chief, who was among those who responded to the scene. “They couldn’t be air-lifted because of too much rain, so a Keller ambulance took them to North Alabama Medical Center in Florence. They were in stable condition when they left.”

The house, owned by Ronnie Glass and occupied by renters, is located near the intersection with County Road 244, across the street from Pilgrim’s Pride poultry processing plant. The event occurred about 7 a.m. Dec. 30.

Glass said other agencies responding included Russellville Fire and EMA and all utility companies. “There were gas leaks, and everything had to be cut off.”

The house owner said they just want their renters taken care of – to know they’re safe.
