Red Bay tops Tharptown

Red Bay broke a deadlocked game in the bottom of the fifth inning to go on to beat the Tharptown Wildcats 9-4 this past Friday night.

Both teams were scoreless after an inning and a half. Tharptown got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning when Jackson Clement scored on a ground ball by Lucas Wright.

Wright later scored on a passed ball to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead.

Red Bay tied the game in the top of the third inning when Jeramiah Thorne and Landon Glover scored on a ground ball by B.P. Blair to make the score 2-2.

The Tigers took the lead in the top of the fourth inning when Dallas Terrell and Jeramiah Robinson scored on a ground ball error with two outs in the inning. Red Bay led 4-2.

Tharptown tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Ty Englethaler scored on an RBI-single by Jessie Mitchell to make it 4-3, and Blake Daily tied the game with an RBI single scoring Hunter Motes.

Red Bay responded in the top of the sixth inning when Ty Reynolds roped a double to the outfield, scoring Harley Strickland and Carson Corum, to give the Tigers a 6-4 lead.

Red Bay blew the game open in the top of the seventh inning, scoring three more runs.

Robinson had two hits and an RBI for the Tigers. Reynolds had a double and two RBIs.

Eli Farris got the win on the mound, pitching five innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs and striking out seven.

Mitchell had two hits and an RBI for Tharptown.
