Anita Delene Lockhart Williams

Anita Delene Lockhart Williams, 82, of Russellville passed away March 29 at Sunset Manor in Guin.

Anita was born and grew up in Clanton. She graduated from Isabella High School and also attended Northwest Junior College in Phil Campbell.

After her marriage to Dan Williams, they moved to Russellville. She worked as secretary at Russellville High School and as a receptionist at Colonial Bank for many years.

Her best job was being “Gran’ to her grandchildren, who she loved dearly, and she enjoyed spending time with them.

Anita accepted Jesus as her Savior at West End Baptist Church in Clanton as a child. She attended Russellville First Baptist Church and sang in the choir until 2016, when she moved to Sunset Manor due to Alzheimer’s disease.

She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her sweet loving spirit and for her singing hymns of praise, which she continued to do even until her last days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, V.L. and Essie (Dobbs) Lockhart; her husband of 60 years, Daniel Williams; and her son, Lance Williams.

Anita leaves to cherish her memories her daughters, Tanya (Kevin) Bradford and Tracy (David) Ward; grandchildren, Rebekah (William) Black, Rachel (John) Seal, Abby Jane (Sam) Armstrong, Channing (Bobby) Wright, Jake (Abby) Ward, Judd Ward, Jaret Ward, Lexi (Jake) McClendon and Maggie Williams; and her great-grandchildren, Campbell Wright, Ledger Ward, Lee Charles Seal, Bradford Seal and, soon-to-arrive, Anita Claire Armstrong.

She also leaves her brothers, Bernard (Doris) Lockhart and Greg (Vicki) Lockhart; sisters, Betty Hay, Martha (Wayne) Burtram, Teena (Joe) Jones and Marilyn (Mike) Woodley; brother-in-law, Mike (Kay) Williams; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. April 2 at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville.  The funeral will be at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Richard Parker officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Memory Gardens.

The pallbearers will be Judd Ward, Jaret Ward, Bobby Wright, William Black, John Seal and Sam Armstrong. The honorary pallbearers will be Jake Ward and Jake McClendon.

The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to Dr. Ronnie Moss, Hospice of Northwest Alabama and Sunset Manor for their loving care shown to our family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001, or to Russellville First Baptist Church, 213 N. Jackson Avenue, Russellville, AL 35653.
