Easter Bunny hops into Franklin County

Easter egg hunts across Franklin County brought children out to celebrate the season Saturday as they gathered eggs and claimed prizes. The Easter Bunny happily hopped about, greeting children and posing for photos.

A standing tradition, hunts took place in Russellville, Phil Campbell and Red Bay. Each location had more than 2,500 eggs, as well as 50 eggs with monetary prizes.

Eggs contained small toys or slips of paper used to determine prizes won, ranging from cash to goodie-filled Easter baskets and even bicycles.

“We enjoyed another successful year,” said Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cassie Medley. “Many folks came out and had fun spending time together. There were a lot of happy faces.”
