Phil Campbell baseball wraps up area title

Mason Swinney lit it up, paving the way for an easy sweep of Vinemont to help the Phil Campbell Bobcats go undefeated in their area and claim the championship.

The Bobcats will host Saks in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Swinney went five-for-six with three doubles and four RBIS and scored four runs in the series.

In game one, the Bobcats beat Vinemont 11-1. Swinney went three-for-four with a double and two RBIs and scored two runs. Sage Raper had a hit and an RBI and scored three runs. Cam Habada had a hit and an RBI and scored twice.

Habada also got it done on the mound, going five innings, allowing three hits and striking out eight.

In game two, Phil Campbell won 14-4.

Kyle Pace went three-for-four with a double and five RBIs, and he scored twice. Swinney had two doubles and two RBIs and scored twice. Habada had a hit and an RBI, and he scored three runs. Cale Faust had a double and two RBIs.

Cole Pace pitched four innings, and he allowed one hit and struck out four.

Belgreen 14, Tharptown 4

The Belgreen Bulldogs scored seven runs in the top of the first inning and easily put away the Tharptown Wildcats 14-4. The Bulldogs pounded out 14 hits.

Carson Cox led the way, going three-for-four with an RBI and scoring twice.

Alex Jarnigan went three-for-three with an RBI and a run. Brodie Vandiver went two-for-four with three RBIs and scored a run.

Cole King went two-for-two with two RBIs and scored two runs. Landon Cox had three RBIs, and Canaan Stough had two RBIs. Will King and Adrian Reeves scored two run each.

Stough went four innings, allowing five hits and striking out five.

For Tharptown, Dawson Higgins and Jackson Clement had two hits each. The pair also had a double each.
