NW-SCC reveals new Patriot athletics logos

Northwest-Shoals Community College has revealed new Patriot athletics logos as the school restarts its sports offerings in the coming season. After 11 years, the Patriots will again take the field this fall.

“This is such an exciting time for Northwest-Shoals,” said NW-SCC President Dr. Jeff Goodwin. “We thought this was the perfect time to rebrand our athletics program with a new look that maintains the same Patriot pride so many student athletes have developed over the years.”

According to NW-SCC, the Patriot rebranding project began in January. Throughout the spring semester, the college conducted research and held focus groups with approximately 250 key stakeholders.

“We wanted to build a sense of pride and unity throughout the college from our students, faculty/staff and alumni,” said Goodwin. “As a former coach and community college athlete, I know pride is something that has to be fostered through efforts that are very intentional. Over time, we plan to build that pride throughout our college community and both of our wonderful campuses.”

The athletics rebranding campaign will be phased in over time as facilities and renovations are completed. Baseball and softball fields are scheduled to be completed within the next two months.

The exhibition season for both sports is scheduled to begin in September, with conference play beginning in March 2023. NW-SCC is a member of the Alabama Community College Conference and will compete against various opponents within the ACCC, National Junior College Athletic Association and the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

“This upcoming year promises to be an exciting time for Northwest-Shoals Community College’s Patriots Athletics program,” said NW-SCC athletic director Taylor Franks. “I am excited to work with our administration, coaches, community and student-athletes as we return sports to the College. We will strive for championships and making a positive difference in our local community.

The college last updated its athletics wordmarks and logos in 1998.

Apparel with the new athletic brands is available for purchase through the online BSN Fan Gear store and the on-campus Barnes & Noble bookstores.

Visit nwscc.edu/athletics for official more information and to purchase apparel.

All logos were developed in partnership with Aha! Creative in Florence.
