Lauderdale County stuffs Bobcat run game

The Phil Campbell Bobcats built their 2022 offense around a strong running attack. That running attack had been largely successful for the first half of the season. Friday night, however, region rival Lauderdale County found a way to stuff that attack, holding Phil Campbell to 24 rushing yards in a 36-12 win over the Bobcats.

Phil Campbell played the Tigers nip-and-tuck through the first half, with the Bobcats getting on the board first on a 21-yard pass from Kyle Pace to Bryant Hyde for a 6-0 lead – and the only points in the first quarter.

Lauderdale County took a 7-6 lead early in the second quarter, but the Bobcats answered on their next drive on a 10-yard pass from Pace to Jacob Barnwell, giving them a 12-7 lead.

Lauderdale County reclaimed the lead on a big 61-yard run on the next drive, going on to score 29 unanswered points and win the game.

The Bobcat defense was led by Mason Weeks with 8.5 tackles. Cole Pace had 7.5 tackles, and Noah Raper had seven tackles.

Phil Campbell will travel to Mars Hill Friday night.
