Bobcats top Colbert Heights, split with Colbert County

Allie Herring hit a late three-pointer to give the Phil Campbell Lady Bobcats a 40-37 win over the Colbert County Indians this past week. Herring’s clutch shot on the road helped improve the Bobcats’ area record to 2-1.

Phil Campbell jumped out to a 10-5 lead over Colbert County in the first quarter, but the Indians battled back to cut the Bobcat lead to 18-16 at halftime.

Colbert County tied the game at 27-27 at the end of the third quarter, and it was a fight to the end.

Madison Branch led Phil Campbell with 11 points. Macy Hardy added nine points, and Kaylie Motes had eight points. Herring and Hannah Welborn scored six points each.

Phil Campbell easily beat Colbert Heights earlier in the week 61-24. The Bobcats led 30-17 at halftime and 48-22 at the end of the third quarter. Hardy led the Bobcats with 17 points, scoring seven in the first quarter and five in the second quarter.

BOYS

The Phil Campbell Bobcats split area games in Colbert County this past week with a win over Colbert Heights and a loss to Colbert County. The Bobcats fall to 1-2 in area play.

Phil Campbell used a big third quarter to stave off a pesky Colbert Heights team 70-62. Colbert Heights led Phil Campbell 15-14 at the end of the first quarter, but the Bobcats tied the game 25-25 at halftime and outscored Colbert Heights 20-9 in the third quarter to take a 45-34 lead.

Both teams seemed to score at will in the fourth quarter, with Colbert Heights outscoring Phil Campbell 28-25, but the Bobcats held on for the win.

Kyle Pace, Bryant Hyde and Quentin Hyde had 16 points each to lead Phil Campbell. Canaan Clay followed with 13 points. Sage Raper and Cole Pace scored four points each. Gage Baker added two points.

Colbert County dominated Phil Campbell from the start, winning 56-36. The Indians led 10-5 at the end of the first quarter, 27-16 at halftime and 41-25 at the end of the third.
