Buzzer beater lifts Bobcats past Colbert

Cam Habada hit six threepointers to lift Phil Campbell to a big area win over the Colbert County Indians Friday night. It was the last one, however, that was the biggest and clinched the game for the Bobcats.

With the game tied 61-61 and just a few seconds left on the clock, the Bobcats inbounded the ball from the sideline. Quentin Hyde dribbled to the right side of the court and handed the ball off to Habada. The lefty took one step and heaved the 24footer toward the basket as time expired, draining the shot and getting the win.

To start the game, Phil Campbell jumped out to a 17-11 lead in the first quarter and extended that lead to 29-22 at halftime.

Colbert County trimmed the Bobcat lead to 44-39 at the end of the third quarter and tied the game shortly before Habada’s gamewinning shot.

Habada led Phil Campbell with 24 points, making threes in each of the four quarters – one in the first and third quarters and two in the second and fourth quarters.

Hyde followed Habada with 15 points.

Other scorers were Kyle Pace with eight points, Canaan Clay with seven, Bryant Hyde with six and Gage Baker with four.

Phil Campbell also beat Colbert Heights this past week handily, 73-39.

Habada led again, this time with 16 points, making three three-pointers in the first quarter. He was followed by Bryant Hyde with 12 points.

Quentin Hyde added nine points, Sage Raper eight points, Kyle Pace seven points, Clay Morgan six points, Cole Pace five points, Baker five pointers, Canaan Clay three pointers and Tre McCulloch one point.
