Russellville club names Bob Seeley Civitan of Year

The Russellville Civitan Club named longtime member and treasurer Robert “Bob” Seeley Civitan of the Year during its Jan. 24 meeting.

“It’s a pleasant surprise receiving this honor,” Seeley said. “Civitan is a good club to belong to, and I enjoy my time in it.”

As a member of the Russellville Civitan Club since 2001, Seeley has put in countless hours helping to plan numerous fundraisers for causes, from the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life to the Russellville Civitan Scholarship Program.

He has also volunteered for Meals on Wheels in delivering meals to those in need in the Russellville community.

He has been the treasurer for the past 10 years and has served on the Board of Directors.

After 30-plus years of teaching, he said he is enjoying his retirement years traveling, which has included driving more than 10,000 miles on a trip to Alaska and back and several trips out west. He also enjoys spending time with his family and mowing his yard.

Seeley has five grandchildren. He and his wife, Patsy, raised their family in Russellville, where he was active in the West Elementary PTA, coached Dixie Youth Baseball, was Scout leader in Cub Scouts and was treasurer for Russellville Band Parents.

At the annual Farm-City Banquet Nov. 14, 2022, Seeley was named Citizen of the Year.

“It’s well-deserved,” explained club president Eddie Beason. “Bob’s very active in the organization and in the community. I think all of his accolades speak for themselves.”
