Belgreen waltzes to area title win

The Belgreen Bulldogs waltzed to the Class 1A Area 14 championship with easy wins over Phillips and Hackleburg.
In the finals, seventh-grader Lily Green hit seven three-pointers to score 21 points and lead Belgreen past Hackleburg 71-48 to capture the championship.
In a wild first quarter, Belgreen outscored Hackleburg 24-18 before the game started to settle in to a more normal pace.
The Bulldogs extended their lead to 43-30 at halftime and led by 12 at the end of the third quarter, 55-43.
Bryn Scott followed Green with 16 points, making four three-pointers herself.
Dacota Green added nine points, Carson Hovater seven points, Noelle Willingham five points, Makenna Fisher five points, Isabella Tate three points, Makayla Willingham three points and Sydnee West two points.
In the semifinals, Belgreen downed Phillips 68-23.
Noelle Willingham and Dacota Green led the Bulldogs with 19 points and 16 points respectively.
Isabella Tate added seven points, Lilliana Willingham six points, Bryn Scott five points, Makayla Willingham four points, Lily Green three points, Jacqueline Alban three points, Makenna Fisher three points and Alayna Tate two points.
