Phil Campbell multi-sport athlete signs for NW-SCC baseball

Phil Campbell’s Bryant Hyde inked a baseball scholarship with Northwest-Shoals Community College this past week, making him the second Bobcat to sign with the Patriots in the 2023 class.

Hyde, who is a multi-sport athlete for Phil Campbell, has been unable to play much baseball the past two years because of injuries suffered in basketball. Hyde will miss all of this season and missed much of the past season with ACL injuries.

The fact that Northwest is signing Hyde despite missing significant playing time shows the program’s confidence in his athletic ability and his work ethic.

“Bryant is a super athlete and a great baseball player,” said Phil Campbell coach Jonathan Raper. “He plays everything, but baseball is his love. It has been unfortunate for him that he has been unable to fully showcase what he can do.”

Raper said Hyde proved this past year he can recover quickly and fully.

“Bryant has a tireless work ethic and that showed last year,” Raper said. “He was able to come back early from his injuries and play a significant role for us down the stretch and in the playoffs.”
