The Phil Campbell Bobcats used the long ball to dispatch J.B. Pennington easily in the second round of the Class 3A state baseball playoffs 13-2 and 20-0. The Bobcats will travel to Lauderdale County on Friday for the quarterfinal matchup with the Tigers.

Phil Campbell hit five home runs in the series. Ironically, only one came in the 20-0 game two win. The other four were in game one 13-2 win, including a grand slam by Robby Robinson on the last at bat of the game.

Cole Pace got out of an early first inning jam. J.B. Pennington had two runners on base with one out and Pace struck out two straight to end the inning.

Pennington pitching struggled with control early and the Bobcats took advantage to take a 2-0 lead.

Phil Campbell added two more in the bottom of the third inning on back-to-back solo shots by Kyle Pace and Sage Raper.

Pennington cut the Bobcats lead in half in the top of the fourth 4-2 but Phil Campbell responded in the bottom half of the inning with three runs to increase their lead to 7-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Bobcats put the game away beginning with a solo home run by Cody Quinn followed by the Robinson grand slam to end the game under the mercy rule 13-2.

Robinson went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and scored three runs. Kyle Pace had two hits, three RBIs and scored. Bryant Anthony had two hits, and RBI and scored. Raper had a hit, two RBIs and scored. Cam Habada scored three times.

Cole Pace got the win allowing just two runs on five hits and struck out seven.

In game two, Ely Taylor pitched a one-hit shutout and struck out 11 as the Bobcats demolished J.B. Pennington 20-0 in five innings.

Habada led the way at the plate going 3-for-4, including a three-run homer to highlight a 14-run third inning.  Habada had five RBIs and scored four runs.

Hunter Baker also had a great game at the plate going 4-for-4 with two RBIs and scored four runs.

Kyle Pace went 3-for-3 with five RBIs and scored a run.

Robinson scored three runs and Koltin Hester scored two.
