Softball Roundup: Tharptown gets two county wins

The Tharptown Wildcats ended the regular season with two county wins beating Phil Campbell 7-4 and Vina 4-3.

In the Phil Campbell game, Tharptown scored two in the first, two in the second, one in the fourth and two in the fifth to take a 7-0 lead. The Bobcats added runs in the fifth and seventh.

Ashton Tharp and Alyssa Fischer got the job done at the plate with two hits each. Tharp doubled and scored three times. Fischer doubled and knocked in three runs. Kyndall Morgan scored two runs.

For Phil Campbell, Mia Ambrosio and Brittney Coffmon had two hits each.

Tharptown 4, Vina 3

Tharptown led Vina 3-0 through three innings, but the Red Devils tied the game in the top of the fourth.  Tharptown got the win scoring one run in the top of the sixth inning.

Ashton Tharp had three hits and an RBI. Cortney Smith had a hit and two RBIs. Fischer, Tharp and Lexi Little all doubled in the game.

Fischer allowed four hits and three runs while striking out five.

Red Bay 8, Covenant Christian 1

The Tigers got a triple from Hannah Butler and doubles from Kyla Blackburn and McKayla Young to roll past the Covenant Christian Eagles. Butler also knocked in two runs. Emma Blackburn had two hits in the game.

Butler allowed just one hit and one run and struck out ten in the win.

Belgreen 6, J.B. Pennington 1

Lily Blackburn had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs to lead the Belgreen Bulldogs past J.B. Pennington. Noelle Willingham scored two runs for the Bulldogs.

Blackburn and Hannah Borden combined to allow just three hits and one run in the game.
