RHS tennis player helps North All-Star tennis team win over South

Russellville High School tennis standout Peyton Parrish recently added to her impressive list of accomplishments on the court by participating in the AHSAA North-South All-Star Tennis Championship.

​​Parrish will be a senior at RHS in this coming season on head coach Charlotte Dollar’s team that has advanced to state multiple times, and on July 18, she was a member of the North squad that defeated the South at Montgomery’s Lagoon Park during the All-Star Sports Week. Competing at No. 4 singles, Parrish defeated Reilly Taylor of St. James by a score of 6-1, 6-2.

​​The victory by Parrish also helped the North team to an 8-1 win over the South. In No. 1 singles, Pippa Roy of Mountain Brook defeated Grace Swain of St. Paul’s 6-1, 6-0.

In No. 2 singles, Annie Lacey of Mountain Brook defeated Emme Clement of St. Paul’s 6-1, 6-2. In No. 3 singles, Bhavya Chalasani of James Clemens defeated Kathryn Kirkland of Auburn 6-2, 6-3.

In No. 5 singles, Annabelle Ford of Muscle Shoals defeated Reena Chen of LAMP 6-4, 6-3. In No. 6 singles, Maggie Junkin of Brooks defeated Stella Sponseller of St. James 6-0, 6-3.

​​In doubles, No. 1 Pippa Roy/Sage Sovic (Spain Park) defeated Juliett Galla(McGill-Toolen)/Carol Murray (UMS-Wright) 6-1, 6-0.

In No. 2 doubles, Hanbi Youn (Auburn) and Mae Mae Voltz (Montgomery Academy) got the South team’s lone win by defeating Alice Rowley and Carter Thomason both of Northridge 6-4, 3-6, 10-6.

No. 3 Kameron Browne (Hillcrest)/Jaedyn Martin (Madison Academy) defeated Kensley Williamson (Trinity)/Kingsley Johns (Trinity) 6-2, 6-3.

The win improved North’s record in the girls’ tennis competition to 4-0 all-time. Alyssa Minshew of Deshler and Amanda Johnson of Sardis were the coaches for the North teamwhile Hollis Davis of Auburn High and Charles Mathison of McGill-Toolen coached the South.
