Entering the second week of the football playoffs, only one team from Franklin County remains – Russellville in Class 5A.

The Golden Tigers will travel to Moody. Russellville is coming off a 38-21 win over Fairfield, improving their record to 9-2. Moody, also 9-2, is coming off a first round win over Scottsboro 28-10.

The Blue Devils went 5-1 in region play, beating Alexandria, Lincoln, Springville, St. Clair County and Southside Gadsden. Their only loss was to Leeds. Moody outscored their opponents 359-143 this year.

Phil Campbell and Red Bay were eliminated last week on the road. The Bobcats lost to third-ranked Gordo in Class 3A, and Red Bay lost to Tuscaloosa Academy in Class 2A.

Some other notable matchups in the area this week are: (Class 1A) Valley Head at Hackleburg; (Class 2A) Lexington at Fyffe; (Class 3A) Lauderdale County at Piedmont, Mars Hill at Madison Academy; (Class 4A) Deshler at Westminster Christian, Priceville at Brooks, Haleyville at Cherokee County; (Class 6A) Fort Payne at Muscle Shoals.
