JL McCluskey

JL McCluskey, age 79, Russellville, passed away June 14 at his residence.

JL worked for 26 years at U.S. Reduction as an aluminum worker and 18 years at BCDA as a park ranger and maintenance worker.  He was well known and will be missed by all who knew him. All of his family and friends have a favorite “JL” story, and the family encourages you to remember these stories.

The visitation was 6 – 8 p.m. June 16 at Spry Memorial Chapel.  The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. June 17 at Bethsaida Baptist Church, with the body lying in state one hour prior the service. Speaking at the service will be Bobby Bolton. Burial will be in the adjourning church cemetery.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Sammy Adam McCluskey and wife Amy; Harlin Jay McCluskey; grandchildren, Adam Shane McCluskey, Samuel Alex McCluskey and wife Lauren, Lindsey Brooke McCluskey, Chelsea Ann McCluskey, Michael Brandon Rice; great-granddaughter, Hannah Brooke; brother, Larry McCluskey and wife Kathy; sisters, Joyce Haygood and husband Hayes, Shelia McCluskey; several nieces & nephews; and special friend, Judy Edwards.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Connie Virginia Hitt McCluskey; son, Larry Don McCluskey; parents, Lester & Lennie McCluskey; brothers, Aaron McCluskey, Gary Don McCluskey; and sister, Helen Hallmark.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cemetery Fund c/o Bethsaida Baptist Church, Hwy 48, Russellville, Al 35654.
