Delmar Leon Fuller

Delmar Leon Fuller, age 81, Russellville, passed away July 23 at ECM Hospital.

Mr. Fuller was a member of Spruce Pine Baptist Church and a deacon for 44 years. He was a retired auto mechanic in the Spruce Pine Community and an avid bird hunter.

He suffered with his health for many years but continued to be an inspiration to us all. He had a heart of gold, a clever smile and was the best husband, daddy and papaw in the world.

The visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. July 26 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral was held at 1 p.m. July 27 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Officiating at the service were Bro. Kent Walker, Bro. Billy Quinn and Bro. Kirk Cagle. Burial was at Spruce Pine Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Spurgeon Fuller and Maudie Lee Pace Fuller; brothers, Omer “Doc” Fuller, Homer Fuller, Edward Fuller, Charles Jr. Fuller and William “Billy” Fuller; sisters, Ollie Fuller Hill, Dollie Fuller Seal, Pearl Fuller Stanford, Leasie Fuller Hudson, Susie Fuller Hauger, Christine Fuller Wilson and Lucille Fuller Moore; daughter-in-law, Thelma Darlene Fuller; and father- and mother-in-law, John and Lelia Quinn.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 62 years, Shirley Quinn Fuller; children, Steve Fuller, Phillip Fuller (wife Merryn) and Darlene Fuller Walker (husband Kent); grandchildren, Megan Powell (husband Nathan), Ginny Brewer (husband Josh), Jonah Walker, Tyler Aaron and Danny Rice; great-grandchildren, Veda Powell and Addison Brewer; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The pallbearers were Nathan Powell, Josh Brewer, Jonah Walker, Tim Fuller, Jerry Gandy and Jerry Smith.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Burns Nursing Home and the ECM Critical Care Unit for your love and care of our family.
