RHS boys split four games

Russellville 3, Deshler 2

The Russellville baseball team hosted the Deshler Tigers Feb. 26, and the Golden Tigers came away with a late-inning victory.

With the score tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Casen Heaps drove home the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly to the outfield.

Jackson Lindsey led RHS at the plate with a 3-for-3 performance, including a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Cole Barnett, Eli Gipson and Heaps scored the Russellville runs. Canyon Pace and Will Rogers joined Gipson and Heaps with singles.

Logan White pitched four scoreless innings of relief to get the win. He struck out five, walked one and allowed three hits.

Rowe Gallagher got the start on the mound, and he allowed two runs, with one being earned. He struck out two and allowed three hits over three innings of work.

Ardmore 6, Russellville 5

The Russellville defense committed seven errors in a loss at Ardmore Feb. 27.  The two teams were tied in the bottom of the seventh inning when AHS got an RBI single to end the game.

RHS tallied six hits in the game, with Nick Smith and Gipson smacking doubles. The other Russellville hits were by Lindsey, Pace, White and Gallagher. Lindsey and Gipson drove in a run each, while Gallagher picked up two RBIs.

Emitt Green got the start on the mound, and he allowed three runs, two earned, over 3.2 innings.  White followed, and he allowed an unearned run over 1.1 innings. Casen Heaps pitched the game’s final 1.1 innings, allowing two runs, with one being earned.

Russellville 4, James Clemens 0

The Golden Tigers and the 7A Jets faced off in Hartselle Feb. 29, and RHS got the win.

Gallagher was the star of the contest, pitching a complete game shutout. Gallagher allowed five hits, and he struck out five while throwing 87 pitches over seven innings.

RHS had five hits, and they came off the bats of Rogers, Barnett, Smith, Gipson and JD Bishop. White, JD Bishop and Gipson had the RBIs for the Golden Tigers.

Hartselle 11, Russellville 4

Hartselle defeated RHS for the second time in 2020 with a win in the second game of the day Saturday for the Golden Tigers after Russellville’s win over James Clemens.

Russellville (6-3) made five errors on defense and had only three singles with the bats in the loss, while HHS had one error and 10 hits.

The RHS singles were by Rogers, Pace and Smith.

Green got the start on the mound, and he allowed six runs on two hits. He walked two batters and hit three with pitches in two-thirds of an inning.

Logan White gave up three runs, with two of them being earned, over 3.1 innings, and Reed Hill finished up the game pitching two innings; he allowed two runs, one earned.
