The Northwest-Shoals Community College Public Relations and Marketing Department received seven awards and was recognized for outstanding marketing and public relations efforts by the Alabama Community College System Public Relations Association.

During ACCSPRA’s recent annual conference in Gulf Shores, NW-SCC Director of Public Relations and Marketing Trent Randolph accepted two Pyramid Awards, four Awards of Achievement and one Award of Merit.  

Awards were in various categories for marketing and public relations materials created and/or used during the 2021-2022 year. The first place Pyramid Awards were for the website and a flyer; the second place Awards of Achievement were for a brochure, promotional video, photography and a poster; and the third place Award of Merit was for online advertising.

Randolph said the flyer and poster were designed to promote the ’70s World Tour Concert of the show choir on the Phil Campbell campus.

“I would say I am most proud of the new website we launched at the end of May,” Randolph added. “A college’s website means everything in today’s digital world. We began the process of completely redesigning our website at the end of 2021. Our main goal was to create a website that prospective students could easily navigate if they were on their phone, tablet or computer.”

Randolph said it is “truly an honor to have the public relations and marketing work of the college recognized among the best in the state.”

“I am just extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to tell the college’s story to our community,” he added. “There is so much excitement surrounding the return of Patriot athletics, our enrollment growth and our upgrades that are coming to both campuses. I love being able to play a small role in sharing it.”

The awards ceremony “recognized best practices from Alabama Community College public relations and marketing professionals who submitted marketing and public relations materials to an independent panel of judges,” according to NW-SCC. More than 300 entries were submitted among almost 20 colleges.
