Barrett assumes new regional role for cnhi newspapers

Paul Barrett, publisher of The Meridian Star, has been promoted to regional manager of Community Newspaper Holdings Inc.'s new East Mississippi division, it was announced today.
Barrett will retain his role in Meridian. He will also assume overall responsibility for operations of three other newspapers in cnhi's newest division the Laurel Leader-Call, Newton Record and Wayne County News.
Keith Ponder, vice president of cnhi, said, "I am pleased we are able to utilize the talents and strengths of Paul Barrett in a regional manager's role. His experience and knowledge will be very valuable as we go forward in our East Mississippi group of newspapers.
Birmingham-based cnhi publishes more than 300 daily and weekly newspapers across the country.
