Pickering releases August schedule

U.S. Rep. Chip Pickering, R-Miss., has scheduled a number of appearances in his Third Congressional District this month.
Pickering will attend events focusing on farmers, tax relief, the faith-based initiative, health care, the military and economic development.
The following is a list of events in which Pickering will be participating, with additional events likely to be scheduled later in the month:
Tuesday
– 2 p.m. – Tax relief press conference at the Main Post Office in downtown Laurel. Pickering will be joined by several families from Laurel to talk about when people in Mississippi will be receiving their tax relief checks and what it means to individual families and the U.S. economy;
– 6:30 p.m. – Laurel Area Dental Society at the Ramada Inn in Laurel.
Wednesday
– 10 a.m. – Change of Command ceremony for the Commanding Officer at the NAS Meridian.
– 7 a.m. – Lauderdale County Council of Governments meeting regarding economic development. The event will be held at Rush Hospital's third floor cafeteria in the new wing.
– 8:30 a.m. – Appear on radio talk show with Eddie Smith, WMOX-AM 1010 in Meridian. Call-ins are welcomed.
– 3 p.m. – Meet with elected officials from Attala County at the Kosciusko Police Department.
Tuesday, Aug. 14
– Noon – Newton Rotary Club meeting at the BoRo Restaurant in Newton.
5 p.m. – Host a "Faith-Based Forum" at the Student Center of Jones County Junior College in Ellisville.
– 11:30 a.m. – Speak to the Mississippi Society of CPA's-Central Mississippi Chapter at the Capital Club in Jackson.
Friday, Aug. 17
– 10 a.m. – Host Agriculture and Timber Summit at the Jim Buck Ross Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum in the Ethnic Heritage Center Auditorium.
Wednesday, Aug. 22
– 9 a.m. – Attend a C-17 kick-off event at the 172nd Mississippi Air National Guard facility at the Jackson International Airport.
Saturday, Aug. 25
– 10:30 a.m. – Speak at Union Day in downtown Union.
– 2 p.m. – Attend a change of command ceremony at the Meridian Naval Air Station's G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Naval Reserve Center in Meridian.
