County supervisors will host a public hearing at 5 p.m. Dec. 18 for residents seeking assistance in purchasing their first home.
In August, Lauderdale County was approved for $250,000 in grant money from the Mississippi Development Authority for first-time home buyers.
The grant will provide 23 low income families with $10,000 they can use for a down payment or other incidental costs in purchasing a home. Supervisors said the money will be split between city and county residents.
Jimmie Smith, president of the Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors, said people should take advantage of the grant.
The meeting will be in the first floor boardroom of the Lauderdale County annex building.
