Meridian's newest shopping center officially opens its third store for business today while another store prepares for an April opening.
Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse opened its doors for business today at 7 a.m. in the Meridian Town Center the shopping center just south of Interstate 20/59 that houses the new Wal-Mart Supercenter and Office Depot.
Bob Flowers, executive vice president of Mattiace Properties of Jackson, the shopping center developer, said Thursday that Apple's $1.00 store will move into the 12,000 square-foot building next to Office Depot in April.
Apple's will be moving from its present location on North Frontage Road.
At Lowe's, about 150 employees have already been hired and have been busy the past few months stocking the 160,000-square-foot store with merchandise.
Brent Lott, assistant store manager, said the store opened for "Contractors Day" on Thursday and more than 800 people bought merchandise.
Lott said the company brought in catered food on Wednesday for its employees and on Thursday for the contractors.
Lowe's will be open today from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. A grand opening is scheduled for March 20.
