Two people were sent to Rush Foundation Hospital Monday after their Ford Bronco ran off the road, barreled over a fence and struck a tree on Highway 495 near King Road.
The accident happened around 4 p.m. A passenger in the Bronco was ejected. The condition of the two motorists was unavailable earlier today.
Roy Benamon of the Mississippi Highway Patrol said the vehicle may have been going too fast around a corner before the driver lost control.
Although it was raining when the accident happened, Benamon said the weather was not a factor.
An hour before the traffic accident on Highway 495, Benamon also worked a two-car accident on Highway 19 South at the Intersection of Whynot-Vimville Road. Benamon said four people were injured in that accident.
There, Benamon said, the driver of a white Thunderbird apparently failed to yield before entering the highway and struck another car.
Both accidents are under investigation.
