Henry and Peggy Sullivan of Meridian announce the engagement of their daughter, Cynthia Lea, to Jonathan Henry Smith, son of Wendell and Yu Yen Smith of Sterling, Kan.
The wedding will be Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at 6 p.m. Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Meridian.
First Lt. Sullivan is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Tidmore of Meridian, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas Sullivan of Sylverena.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Meridian High School and received a bachelor's of commercial aviation degree in flight operations and aviation management from Delta State University.
She is a member of the 186 Air Refueling Wing in Meridian.
First Lieutenant Smith is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Smith of Lyons, Kansas and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lai of Taiwan.
The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Sterling High School and received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the United States Air Force Academy. He is pursuing a master of science degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University.
First Lt. Smith is currently stationed in New Mexico as a test engineer at the Holloman High Speed Test Track. He will begin undergraduate navigator training at NAS Pensacola in September.
A reception will be held at Merrehope following the ceremony.
Family and friends are invited to attend.
