MARLAND RIDDELL SMITH
ESCATAWPA Services for Marland Riddell "Smitty" Smith will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Watervalley Holiness Church in Whynot with the Revs. Leslie Roberts and Jerry Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Jackson County Funeral Services and Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 67, of Lucedale, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, in Lucedale.
Survivors include his wife, Eula Mae Smith of Lucedale; two sons, Ronnie Dell Smith and his wife, Tammy, of Meridian, Marland D. Smith and his wife, Lylene, of Pascagoula; four daughters, Faye Goff of Escatawpa, Deborah Tidwell and her husband, Brian, of Toomusba, Cathy Epps and her husband, David, of Pascagoula and Angel Dodson of Pascagoula; a brother, Royce Donnell Smith and his wife, Sheila, of Jackson; grandsons, B.J. Tidwell, Chris Tidwell and Josh Tidwell, all of Toomsuba, Chris Butler, Dan Butler and Clayton Butler, all of Meridian, Shannon Smith, Brandon Smith, Matthew Smith, Blake Smith, Jeremy Dunbar and Jason Epps, all of Pascagoula; granddaughters, Neicey Malone Tabor of Escatawpa, Alisha Smith, Brittney Smith, Crystal Dodson and Destini Dodson, all of Meridian; great-grandchildren, Candi Malone, Cameron Malone and Andrew Malone, all of Pascagoula, Brock Tidwell, Cade Tidwell and Kayleigh Tidwell, all of Toomsuba.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie D. Smith and Nettie Moffett Smith; two sisters and a brother.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Visitation will be Wednesday 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Jackson County Funeral Services.
CHICAGO Services for Blanch Nicholson will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Gatling's Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Nicholson, 65, of Chicago, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, in Chicago.
Survivors include her husband, Samuel Nicholson of Chicago; two sons, the Rev. Richard Howard Coleman and his wife, Mary, of Egan, Minn., Samuel T. Nicholson and his wife, Rose, of Chicago; two daughters, Phyllis M. King and her husband, James, and Frances Nicholson, all of Chicago; her mother, Cynthia Coleman Friend of Marion; five sisters, Evelyn Jones and her husband, Henderson, Ora D. Barrett and her husband, Able, all of Meridian, Sarah N. King and her husband, Roy, of Marion, Cynthia D. Willis and her husband, Daniel, of Russell and Lillie S. Coleman of Richton; four brothers, Richard Coleman Sr. and his wife, Rene, of Perkinston, Charles D. Coleman and his wife, Fannie, of Montgomery, Ala., Norman C. Coleman and his wife, Peggy, of Marion, Oscar L. Coleman and his wife, Bonnie, of Meridian; her father-in-law, Hirman Nicholson of Laurel; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and several relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Coleman; and two brothers, Ernest R. Coleman and Bonner Coleman Jr.
RUBY L. SMITH
Services for Ruby L. Smith were held Monday at 3 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Paul LeBlanc and Paul Railey officiating. Burial was in Clay Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith, 77, of Meridian, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Hospice South. She was retired from the Lauderdale County Home Health Department. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Meridian.
Survivors include her son, Leotis "Sonny" Smith and his wife, Becky; a sister, Jewel Tolar of Meridian; a brother-in-law Dewey Smith and his wife, Freda, of Chunky; a sister-in-law Julia Smith of Meridian; grandchildren, Chad Smith of San Antonio, Texas, Brian Smith and his wife, Leigh Ann and Jamey Taylor and his wife, Valla, all of Meridian; great-grandchildren, Brittany and Clint Taylor of Meridian; and a dearly beloved friend, Otis Warren of Meridian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leotis Smith Sr.; her father, Julius M. Daniels; her mother, Lillian Daniels; a daughter, Evelee Smith; a sister, Vera Daniels; and a brother, Julius Daniels.
Pallbearers were the elders and members of Seven Day Adventist Church of Meridian.
